Training

The Training Centre is located at:
1936 Kenneth Dr.
Val Therese, ON

(705)969-8314

Make sure you at least have your WHMIS and Fall Protection!

Local 493 will be paying the cost for members to take their Norcat and ZES training. In order to qualify for this, members must contact the Hall prior to taking the training. Norcat and ZES are required to be on any mine jobsites.

The Training Centre is now Certified by the MTCU!

On September 14, the local learned that our Training Delivery Agent(TDA) has been approved by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. This means our apprentices can now complete their Construction Craft Worker training right here in Sudbury. Before, the nearest training centre was in Timmins.

This is a huge step for the local, and congratulations go out to those involved in the TDA application process. We are looking forward to welcoming new apprentices into the union and seeing our current apprentices achieve their full CCW status.

  Basic Concrete and Formsetting

Last year we offered a new course at the Training Centre called Basic Concrete and Formsetting. The course was a great success where members were able to gain the basic concrete skills they will put to use on a number of jobsites. Ten of our members participated and were able to pick up the skills over the course of two weeks.
